Type Locality and Naming

Along the sai Novikhushk, left tributary of the sai Hodja-Kurgan, basin of the river Kashkadarya, Zarafshan-Gissar mountain region. A.I. Kim, M.V. Erina, 1984 (228, pp. 23-24).

Synonym: Novikhushk Layers, Новомокская св., Kovikhush Beds; Novikhush Beds


Lithology and Thickness

Rhythmically alternating thick-bedded and massive organodetrital coral-crinoid gray and dark gray limestones and limestone breccias of collapse with layers of fine-grained black siliceous platy and thick-platy limestones. Thickness 110-200m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Normally overlie the Obi-Safit layers of the Khodzhakurgan Fm, Kitab Horizon

Upper contact

The upper boundary in the stratotype is tectonically disturbed, but on the southern slope of the Raykazak Mountain and along the sae Kindyktepa beyond the borders of Uzbekistan, they are normally overlain by the Kindyktepa Fm (Kindyktepa Beds).
